A distinctive peninsula at the western coast towards Korea, Noto's land is not particularly good for farming. It is, however, an excellent strategic location to monitor the sea traffic between southern and northern Japan. The capital, Nanao, was the birthplace of Hasegawa Tohaku, a famous painter of the Sengoku Jidai.
