Comprising the whole of the Boso Peninsula, Shimosa province is small and hilly and therefore does not produce much income. The constant wars conducted in the Kanto plain have stunted much of its potential for development. Today it is the Chiba prefecture, and the capital is a centre for the Japanese steel and oil industries, as well as producing the majority of the country's peanuts!
