Description

Suitable for battles in the open sea and coastal engagements, the Kasuga has good range and accuracy.

Powered by a coal-fired steam engine and propelled by large paddle wheels, the Kasuga is a fine addition to any fleet. Her size means she can withstand attacks from larger ships better than her smaller counterparts, but she is still fast moving and manoeuvrable. Her crew are armed with rifles and her guns have good range and accuracy. As an all-rounder she is suitable for large naval engagements in open waters as well as smaller coastal and port battles. Tales of monsters that plague sailors are found in mythology the world over. In Japan the most fearsome of these mythical beasts was Yofune-Nushi, a huge sea serpent. This malicious creature could cause storms to rise and, yearly, demanded a sacrifice of human flesh from a fishing village. If the villagers failed to provide this sacrifice the creature would call a devastating storm, sinking the entire fishing fleet. This yearly sacrifice continued until a young lady, Tokoyo, volunteered to be the sacrifice. As the creature approached her she withdrew a concealed knife and slashed the creature's eyes out. As it thrashed around in pain she was able to slit its throat, saving her village from the creature forever.
