Hida

Set in the mountainous heart of Honshu, Hida makes up for its lack of agricultural wealth with an abundance of quality lumber. Supplying many of the surrounding provinces with timber, Hida also is renowned for its carpentry and wooden goods. Today, the province is the site of the Hida Minzokumara, an accurate recreation of a traditional mountain village, showing the lifestyle and hardships of people living in the "Japanese Alps".
